Meditation is a kind of universal form that surpasses all religions, cultures and countries. Today, modern lifestyle is leading to stress, negative feelings, anger and hatred. Meditation is therefore becoming a solution to reduce all these problems. It is a great exercise that gives peace of mind good health and reduces stress.

Meditation produces a profound state of relaxation and calm mind and hence, is considered as a type of mind-body contemporary medicine. It leads to strong and effective functioning of brain like flexible thinking, focused attention and proactive behavior. Practicing meditation also leads to fit cardiovascular system, balanced physiology and strong functioning of immune system. It gives a feeling of safety and peace and improves interpersonal relationships. Meditation and happiness have been related to each other from early times. Now, even the scientists have discovered that practicing meditation gives true happiness. The research says that meditation stimulates the release of neurotransmitters along with serotonin, opiates, oxytocin and dopamine that produce a feeling of pleasure.

These are some of the common benefits of meditation but differ with type. Some of them are listed below –

Mindfulness Meditation: This type of meditation consists of sounds and activities that surround you. In this meditation, your mind jumps from one thought to other, not focusing on single thought. It helps to bring your mind to present and prevents thinking about the future. It makes you feel empathetic instead of getting lost in the outside world.

Transcendental Meditation: While practicing this meditation, your mind should focus on a particular object, sound, mantra or thought. It creates a feeling of calmness and makes you feel rejuvenated.

Spiritual Mediation: Spiritual meditation is mostly related to communication with God through prayers. In this meditation, one has to think about the problem which one has in calm state. It not only refreshes you but also rewards by giving a solution on the problem.

Guided Meditation: Guided meditation refers to meditation that is practiced with records of person or in-person guidance; later on it can be practiced without records. There is a form called as guided imagery in which the recording draws attention to certain images, states, affirmations or imagined desired experiences. It makes you feel relaxed and stress-free.

Movement Meditation: This meditation involves breathing along with gentle flowing movements and the focus is totally on the movements rather than on thoughts or breath. Even playing music and dancing is allowed in this type of meditation. This meditation relaxes you mentally as well as physically.

Meditation benefits you in both physical as well as mental way making your path free from problems and tensions, leading to happiness.
